Abominable mistreatment

JEDDAH, 17th September, 2015 (WAM) -- The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, has expressed shock and dismay at the harsh and unacceptable treatment by the Hungarian Police using tear gas and water canon to disperse protesting Syrian refugees who sought to enter the country from Serbia.
He called on the Hungarian government to respect international humanitarian law and human rights of the refugees who were in the first place forced to escape from their country due to war and grievous human rights atrocities committed against them.
The Secretary General, on the other hand, welcomed the positive action taken by the European Parliament, which has voted in favour of relocating some 120,000 refugees, currently in Italy, Greece and Hungary. -end-
