The
National Election Committee (NEC) announced today the withdrawal of 12
candidates from contending for the membership of the Federal National Council
(FNC).
Those
who withdrew included seven from The Emirates of Abu Dhabi, two from Dubai, one
from Ras al-Khaimah and two from Fujairah, while the Emirates of Sharjah, Ajman
and Umm al-Qaiwain did not report any withdrawals.
Meanwhile,
the NEC announced today the closure of the withdrawals of candidates for the
membership of the FNC, bringing the number of those competing in the electoral
process after the announcement of the final list to 329 male and female
candidates.
This
announcement is in accordance with the schedule for the FNC election 2015,
which set 14th September as the last day for the withdrawal of candidates. –End-
