For this Mideast nation, extremism must be fought with tooth and nail

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of the National Media Council, NMC, has said that the United Arab Emirates is fighting a war against extremism, stressing that the UAE will stand ready in the face of any threat to its national security and the security of the region.

During an interview carried by a number of satellite stations of Abu Dhabi and Dubai TV along with Al Arabiya channel, Dr. Al Jaber said, "The death of a constellation of our soldiers taking part in the Arab Coalition's Operation Restoring Hope will only strengthen our determination and resolve to continue performing our moral and military duty to liberate Yemen from rebel militias."

He added, "We have started seeing signs of victory through successful attacks and victories achieved by the courage of our troops."

Dr. Al Jaber paid tribute to the brave souls of the martyrs, expressing his sincere condolences and sympathy to the UAE’s wise leadership, the Armed Forces and the families of the martyrs.

He stressed that the main objective of the UAE’s participation in the Arab coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is to back the legitimate government of Yemen and to achieve security and stability in Yemen and the region.

Speaking about the UAE’s attention and focus on the economic and social development issues with its involvement in the war, Dr. Al Jaber said that stability and security are the essential pillars of economic and social development and that the economic superiority and leading development model achieved by the UAE in various fields will not continue without the courage and sacrifices of its sons.

Commenting on the performance of national media organisations to cover the war in Yemen, he said that the National Media Council is in continuous and direct contact with media institutions and stakeholders, adding, "I have personally witnessed the ability of our national media to assume its role and responsibilities in difficult circumstances and adversity through maintaining credibility as it delivers the right messages with utmost transparency and precision at this sensitive time."

He stressed his confidence that Emirati media professionals have a national sense, full knowledge and awareness which in turn would entitle them to carry out their tasks in the best way.

Speaking about the aid and relief that, since the start of Operation Decisive Storm and then Operation Restore Hope, the UAE confirmed will accompany military support for the Yemeni legitimacy by providing help and support to the Yemeni people, and whether there will be any change in the priorities of the UAE after this day, Al Jaber stressed that the priorities are the same without any change and "our goal is to liberate Yemen and restore legitimacy."

He added that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, confirmed that liberating Yemen from the coup militias is our goal.
