                 Dubai gears for more green initiatives

DUBAI-- Ajman Tourism Development Department, ATDD, has discussed with Emirates Green Building Council, EmiratesGBC, ways to enhance green practices in tourism establishments in Ajman.

During a meeting at EmiratesGBC's headquarters in Dubai, both parties reviewed opportunities and potentials for continued cooperation with regard to increasing "go-greenawareness level, exchanging ideas that would help preserve environment and enhance sustainability efforts.

To this end, ATDD employees and Ajman hotel staff would be trained to develop "greeninitiatives, to be implemented within their working environments.

A joint seminar will be also be held to address Ajman hoteliers about possible initiatives and future projects on including green practices within hotel classification criteria and standards.

EGBC was formed in 2006, with the goal of advancing green building principles for protecting the environment and ensuring sustainability in the United Arab Emirates  -end- .
