Emiratis can now go almost everywhere without visas

ABU DHABI, 8th May, 2015 (WAM)--In an era when security and visa regulations are being reviewed, it is a good sign that the UAE has been recognised as a booming country.

Emiratis have every reason to be proud of with the bilateral arrangement signed between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates to allow their citizens to travel visa-free to each others countries.

"This confirms the rise of the UAE as a leading Arab country, which boasts one of the world’s best infrastructure as well as a secure society," said English language local daily, Khaleej Times, in its editorial on Friday

Now Emiratis, who constitute a major chunk of tourists to Europe, will be able to undertake the trip without visa formalities. All they need is a valid UAE passport and the passion to travel the world.

It added, "In an era when security and visa regulations are being reviewed, it is a good sign that the UAE has been recognised as a booming country. This is a compliment and tribute to the leadership of the UAE. The decision to waive visas for Emiratis to 34 destinations in Europe could not have come at a more opportune time, as it coincides with the ongoing Expo in Italy."

Likewise, not only is the UAE a preferred destination for tourists worldwide, it is also the region’s hub for business and tourism. The UAE joins the list of countries whose citizens are overwhelmingly welcomed at foreign airports, with a trust level that is second to none.

In this moment of celebration for the nation, "the new visa-free arrangement with an enterprising and scenic continent will open new vistas of cooperation and success," the paper said.

It added that the UAE still has a long way to go as it prepares itself for the Expo 2020 in Dubai, and more reciprocal arrangements are expected to be signed with other countries before the event.

"An aviation hub, oil, trade, retail and toursim destination, the achievements of the country cannot be ignored any longer. With the European visa-waiver scheme , Emiratis will go places to get what they want," the paper said. –end-
