Some
102 members of the Electoral Committees seeking to run for the Federal National
Council Elections 2015 submitted their nominations today at the Registration
Centres established by the National Elections Committee on the opening of
registration, which will continue until 20th August.
The
first day nominations included 14 women candidates. Of the nine registration
centres, 24 nominations were made in Abu Dhabi, including two by women. In
Dubai, six women registered to run in the elections.
Dr.
Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of
Federal National Council of Affairs and Chairman of the National Elections
Committee, said during a tour he made today of the Abu Dhabi and Dubai centres,
that the FNC elections for 2015 reached a very important phase in the lead-up
to elections on 3rd October.
He
described the first day of registrations as positive and encouraging, thanks to
the efficiency of the committee members.
The
emirate of Abu Dhabi saw 24 candidates registered, including 11 in Abu Dhabi
City, one in the Western region and 12 in Al Ain. In the other emirates, 15
registered in Dubai, 22 in Sharjah, including three women, 14 in Ras
al-Khaimah, including one woman, 13 in Fujairah, six in Ajman, including one
woman and eight in Umm al-Qaiwain, including one woman. –End-
