The
Abu Dhabi Police’s Security Support Department and London’s Metropolitan Police
joined forces in exchanging expertise in field shooting and other areas of law
enforcement during a visit to the United Kingdom.
The
UAE team include men and women from the Security Support Department who left on
Saturday for a two-week learning trip to the UK.
This
trip will allow the UAE team to receive training as per Metropolitan Police
Specialist Training Centre (MPSTC) standards, said Captain Jasem Mohammad Al
Zaabi, Patrol Officer at the Security Support Department and head of the UAE
delegation.
The
Security Support Department also learnt about best practices of the
Metropolitan Police in addition to training courses for enhancing their
officers’ qualifications.
Meanwhile,
Detective Lee Spittlehouse, Training Manager and Inspector at the Metropolitan
Police, expressed his admiration for the visiting police force and their
ability in handling and using weapons.
“This
shows the Security Support officers’ high skill in performing difficult tasks,”
he said in a statement.
Spittlehouse
also lauded Abu Dhabi Police’s performance of ‘quality leaps’ and their efforts
in cooperating with different law enforcement officials across the world to
develop their skill sets.
Recently,
Charlie Beck, Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), praised the
Abu Dhabi Police’s ability in uncovering crimes in “record time”. The LAPD
official made this statement last June in commemoration of a graduating batch
from the Abu Dhabi Police’s Security Support Department.
The
Department also participated in practice exercises with the LAPD, in addition
to helping them make a number of arrests.
“The
Security Support personnel carried out highly efficient and quality exercises,
and assisted the LAPD patrols in their daily missions; this contributed to
reinforcing their practical expertise,” Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamsi, Head of
Security Support Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, said in a statement
earlier. –End-
