Yemen's education and health facilities being restored to normal, thanks to Emirates Red Crescent

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is holding meetings with Yemeni officials on the best way to bring life in the Governorate of Aden to normalcy in light of the calm the city has been witnessing over the recent days.

The ERC aid team is in Aden to supervise implementation of the UAE's humanitarian initiatives as per directives given by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and instructions of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and follow-up by H.H.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, and Chairman of the ERC.

As part of its efforts to return public services to the pre-crisis level, the team held a series of meetings with educational, health and municipal officials to explore means to support these vital sectors, which had been seriously affected by the crisis. These meetings also aimed at assessing the requirements of these sectors so as to secure them as soon as possible and enable them to deliver their services to the Yemeni people.

As far as the education sector was concerned, the UAE aid workers discussed the present and future need of the sector along with a plan for rehabilitation of the badly-damaged educational institutions for a smooth start of the academic year. –End-
