Here, students are given all the protection they need

The Ministry of Interior, represented by Traffic Coordination Directorate General, is launching a traffic awareness campaign under the slogan “Our Students are a Responsibility” prior to the start of the new academic year.

This campaign comes as a part of the traffic sector’s initiative in line with the MoI’s strategy aimed at controlling roads, promoting traffic safety and reducing run-over accidents. It also aims to raise the awareness of students in all educational stages; especially children, about traffic accidents, the need to adhere to traffic laws, and to preserve the safety of students from potential road dangers.

Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director General, Traffic Coordination Directorate General, Ministry of Interior congratulated the UAE school boards and parents alike on the occasion of the new academic year, and wished the best of luck and success to students in their academic attainment journey. He also called upon motorists, parents and other road users to cooperate with the traffic police, as well as to adhere to traffic laws and instructions established on roads. These measures aim to ensure the safety of students at the beginning of the new academic year, and to reduce accidents, traffic congestion and the resulting negative effects.

He said: “Students of all ages are a major component of human development that needs to be preserved. Despite all the preventive measures taken to protect them from various dangers, there is a need to increase awareness and guidance for parents and caregivers to protect children against potential dangers of the road.”

Adding further, he noted that the Traffic Coordination Directorate General at the Ministry of Interior, is carrying out this campaign in cooperation and coordination with the Traffic and Patrols Departments across the UAE, along with the Kahlifa Student Empowerment Program;the Ministry of Education; Dubai’s RTA; and other entities concerned with traffic safety in both public and private sectors, with the aim of providing a safe environment, and accident-free roads.” Brigadier Al Zaabi also stressed the need for further awareness and guidance to promote traffic safety among students, bus drivers and student transport vehicles.

Brigadier Al Zaabi explained that the campaign will include activities and lectures within the Kahlifa Student Empowerment Program, with the aim of raising awareness of entities in charge of student transport. It will also promote awareness of families to urge them to inculcate traffic culture in their children. In conclusion, he pointed that the campaign will include numerous awareness tips and messages via the different media outlets, such as radio, newspapers, magazines, and TV channels. The campaign’s theme will also be posted on websites, Facebook, Twitter, Intsagram, and online discussion forums such as blogs. –End-
