MANAMA -- Bahrain has strongly condemned the North Korea’s announcement
that it has tested a hydrogen nuclear bomb, considering it a flagrant violation
of the UN Security Council's resolutions and a real threat to the international
peace and security.
Bahrain News Agency, BNA, quoted a statement of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain as saying, "The Ministry reaffirms
the Kingdom’s support to all international efforts to ban proliferation of
weapons of mass destruction, and calls upon North Korea to strictly adhere to
its commitment of the non- proliferation of nuclear weapons treaty, NPT, under
the safeguards system of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)."
The Ministry has urged the international community
to take all necessary measures to confront any violations of the NPT in order
to preserve international security and peace.
